DIY: Stuck On You Class Valentine

So it seems the internet is a flutter with Valentine’s Day posts and many continue to be interest in my “You Rule” no candy class Valentine idea from 2012.  I’m very flattered an want to offer up a new idea for 2014.

The idea came together when I saw gorgeous colored glue sticks at the local dollar store: two sticks for 99 cents in fantastic jewel toned hues (Same as the ones found here).  Normally I wouldn’t have thought much about glue, but recently when helping my Big Boy with his nightly homework, we had to glue something into his notebook.  I lent him my glue stick which happens to be of the purple variety and he loved it.  At school they have the no frills white sticks and he loved being able to see where his glue was going. Something so simple, yet apparently so thrilling to him.  So, when I came across the glue sticks I knew I was on to something.

For this year’s no candy class Valentine, I give you the “Stuck On You” glue stick give-away with an easy tutorial and a free printable.  You can find the printable at the bottom of this post.  I explored doing a cut out  and sliding the glue stick through, as I had with the ruler but the weight of the glue stick meant that it was better to go with some cute washi tape.  Fortunately, I had some washi tape left over from last year’s class Valentine.

To download the printable click here. I’ve included very faint guide lines for easy cutting.

What you will need:

1) cardstock that I had on hand

2) Fun colored glue sticks

3) Washi Tape

4) Print the template

5) Cut and assemble

6) Let the kids enjoy

Janet - Really cute, and I love the no-candy. A woman after my own heart.

I called around to the Dollar Trees in our area and they did not have the glue sticks (said they get them at back to school time, only). I ordered them online from Wal Mart to be delivered to the store nearest me. It’s going to take about a week, so I’m glad I found this now!

Thank you so much for the great idea.

patrice - how do you edit the file to put your child’s name on it or you can’t?

isadorag - Hi Patrice,
Unfortunately this is not an editable file. I need to upgrade my software in order to make that possible… On the list of things to do 🙂
Most like to have their child sign their Valentines.
