I’m working on a plan to redesign our living room. In fact, I’m planning to redo much of the main floor of our home (see here for our floorplans). You’re thinking to yourself, “Didn’t you just design it?” If for you three years is equivalent to “just”, then yes. But if like me, three years is a long time and your needs change, then you don’t just live with what’s there, you redesign to suit your new needs. For us the big change has arisen from our kids getting bigger. We no longer need a playroom within close proximity to the kitchen. Our boys are now 5 and 9 and usually play in their rooms or in the family room. The playroom sees no action.
I’ve decided to move the baby grand piano out of the living room and into the playroom. The playroom will get renamed the music room. However, once you move a huge item like a piano, everything changes. To maintain flow and balance, everything needs to be rethought. So, I’ve been pulling some inspiration photos for our new living room and this is what I’ve come up with. I’m dubbing it sophisticated, relaxing, modern living room.
