If you’ve been following along for a while, you know that I’ve developed an unexpected yearning for a rustic retreat. So, for this installment of the Look for Less, I thought I would tackle a rustic retreat that has a decidedly modern look.
Hubby and I dream of finding a place in the country with plenty of fresh air, and room for the boys to explore. Of course, we would want it to be a fixer, so that we can interpret the space to suit our needs and preferences. However, if we found a home that looked as welcoming as the inspiration home, we probably would just bring our PJs. The inspiration home belongs to artist Nikolas Piper and was originally featured in Elle Decor Spain. Have a look at the whole feature; it’s a great example of blending old architecture with a warm modern spirit.
The key to the look in this room is keeping things monochromatic and natural. I managed to pull this look together for $2104. That includes SIX dining chairs and two statement pendants! If you look at the inspiration home, while the room is natural it has a definite mid-century tendency. So in keeping with that, I brought in pieces that maintain the clean lines and wood tones, even if not exact replicas. And, can you believe I found a Swan chair lookalike at Lowe’s? Nice!
