Vintage Finds: Heywood Beauty

Can I say S-C-O-R-E?!  I haven’t gone vintage shopping for a while.  I was sad not to visit one single flea market on our last trip to France, but frankly between the kids and getting sick, it was too much.  So, I was ecstatic when I found this gorgeous Heywood Wakefield Harmonica Table at a local thrift store.  I am by no means a vintage furniture expert, but I usually have an eye for nice lines and was lucky to discover its pedigree. This same table is currently selling on Ebay for nearly $1000, needless to say, that’s not what I paid.

Judging from the dead spiders at the bottom of the table, the table has been sitting in someone’s garage for years.  I gave it a quick clean and it is gleaming.  I love the mid-century, clean danish inspired design, the folding cantilevered extensions.  They just don’t make them like they used to.

I paid a lot less than it is worth and felt almost bad walking away with this steal. I don’t think anyone at the thrift store notice the Heywood Wakefield stamp. How lucky was I?!
