Vintage Finds: May 2015

Vintage army blanket, brass mirror, African weaving, rustic metal baskets

This month I finally got to browse around the Alameda Point Antiques Faire.  I tried going last month, but the weather was abysmal; as soon as I got there it started pouring down with rain and all the vendors started packing up.  Plus it was super cold.  This month I got lucky.  Clear weather but not hot, so I could have spent hours browsing the aisles without the sun pounding down on my head.  My loot for the day?  A beautiful vintage geometric Kuba weaving from Congo, $35.  I also managed to score a cool vintage grey army blanket for $20 (you can find similiar ones here) and a pair of vintage aluminum wire baskets for $20.  The score of the day? A handcrafted brass mirror from Morocco for a mere $7.  Total damage $82.

I could have stayed all day, but I had to get back home to take the kids to a birthday party.  Still, I was pretty happy with my treasures.  Now, to figure how I’m going to use my new stuff.  Of course, it would all be perfect for my imaginary country house. 😉

isadorag - Agree. Plus you can’t really see it in the pic, but it has some cool faded stenciled letters.
